Features & Analytics
What is AI-powered race prediction?
Our machine learning models analyze your training history, pace trends, and physiological data to predict your race performance across different distances. This includes:
- Predicted finish times for 5K, 10K, half marathon, and marathon
- Pacing strategies tailored to your fitness level
- Confidence intervals based on training consistency
- Real-time updates as your fitness improves
How does deficiency analysis work?
Deficiency analysis identifies gaps in your training that may be limiting your performance. We analyze:
- Training Volume: Are you running enough weekly mileage?
- Intensity Balance: Too much easy running? Not enough speed work?
- Recovery Patterns: Are you allowing adequate rest between hard efforts?
- Long Run Consistency: Building endurance appropriately?
- Cadence & Form: Biomechanical efficiency analysis
Based on these insights, PaceBrain recommends specific training adjustments.
What are heart rate zones and how are they calculated?
Heart rate zones help you train at the right intensity for different goals. PaceBrain calculates personalized zones based on:
- Your resting heart rate
- Maximum heart rate (detected from activities or user-specified)
- Lactate threshold estimates from pace/HR data
The five zones are:
- Zone 1 (Recovery): Very light, active recovery
- Zone 2 (Aerobic): Easy conversational pace, base building
- Zone 3 (Tempo): Comfortably hard, sustainable effort
- Zone 4 (Threshold): Hard effort, lactate threshold training
- Zone 5 (VO2max): Maximum effort, interval training

Troubleshooting
My uploaded activity files aren't processing
Try these troubleshooting steps:
- Verify the file format is .GPX, .TCX, .FIT, or .CSV
- Check that the file size is under 10MB
- Ensure the file contains valid GPS or activity data
- Try re-exporting the file from your source app/device
- If still not working, contact support@pacebrain.com with the file
The AI predictions seem inaccurate
AI predictions improve with more data. Ensure you have:
- At least 4-6 weeks of consistent training logged
- A mix of easy runs, tempo runs, and workouts
- Accurate max heart rate set in your profile
- Recent race results or time trials recorded
If predictions still seem off after meeting these criteria, contact support with details.
